All though we know that a healthy Nutrition is the one thing you should focus on to loose weight, it`s also other things you could do. Besides prioritizing to work out and have a good night sleep, reducing of stress is also very important.
If you have a very hectic daily life your cortisol levels will often very be high. The hormone also called “the stress hormone”. The effects of cortisol can be devastating to people who are trying to loose weight. Cortisol, which is associated with the body’s “fight or flight” response to a stressor or threat, affects the body in three ways that can make weight loss difficult or impossible:
* Cortisol can trigger many individuals to crave high- fat, high sodium foodsin an effort to self-soothe and cope with stress. These foods can easily result in weight gain.
*Cortisol can prevent your body from building new muscles by reducing testosterone levels. More muscle means a faster rate of burning calories, which in turn drives weight loss: high cortisol levels halt that muscle building process. This can also result in a longer healing process of muscle injuries, which can subsequently make it difficult and painful to exercise.
* Consistently high levels of cortisol can increase the amount of body fat, particularly in the abdominal region, by triggering the body’s fat storage response.
Therefor a hot tub will help you to relax more and increase your cortisol levels. When you’re soaking in hot water, your body’s muscles relax and your breathing slows down. The net effect is profound relaxation and a decrease in cortisol levels.
So why don’t you priority taking hot tubs the next week? And if not having a tub in the house, do activities as meditation or being in nature or skin treatment that can make you relax and increase your fat burning instead!
